South Carolina will be seeing record temperatures in the next few days. Having cool treats around for the kids and maybe a treat or two for the adults is great especially if you make it yourself. Not only is this recipe fun for kids to make, you know exactly what you are eating and you can mix up the recipe and try new ones. You can control how healthy or decadent to make this treat.
Makes two servings
Ingredients:
2/3 cup melted Nutella
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup crushed peanuts, pecans or walnuts
4 flat wooden skewers or wooden Popsicle sticks
2 medium bananas, each divided into two and cut in half cross wise
Instructions:
In a microwave safe bowl add Nutella and microwave for a few seconds until the Nutella is very warm and somewhat melted, you do not want it hot, or too melted but warm enough to coat the banana.
Take your halve bananas and place them on the skewer. roll the banana in the melted Nutella until it is thoroughly covered. Now roll your banana in the nuts until covered. Place bananas on a flat pan that is covered in wax paper and place in freezer for 2 hours or so until frozen. Let each banana pop sit for about 15 minutes before eating.
Alternative ways to have this dessert, is to coat bananas in non fat yogurt, any and all flavors and then rolling them in coconut, trail mix
or chocolate coco puffs. You can also freeze the bananas and add peanut butter to the frozen banana.
