Nothing says southern dessert like homemade peach cobbler.

Makes 6 servings

Peach Cobbler is simple decadence and a winning dessert for any occasion.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Ingredients:

1 large can of sliced peaches  (drain- reserve  syrup)
1 1/2 to 2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups self rising flour
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 cups whole milk
1/2 stick of butter
1 tbsp vanilla extract

What else you'll need:

2 1/2 quart casserole dish
Large mixing bowl
Non stick spray (optional)

Instructions:

Spray your casserole dish with non stick cooking spray.

Cut half stick of butter into pats and place into casserole dish. Place in oven long enough to melt butter or if you like microwave to melt butter.

In a large bowl combine flour, sugar and cinnamon and whisk thoroughly. Remove any sugar clumps as you stir.

Add in milk  and vanilla extract and gently stir until combined but don't over stir..just enough until all is wet and incorporated.

Pour batter into casserole dish that you melted the butter into.

Take a large spoonful of your sliced or chopped peaches and add them in over the batter in various spots. Don't just dump the peaches in one area, but drop in the spoonfuls all over the batter.

(Optional) you can take the reserved peach syrup and pour on top of batter/peach mixture now if you'd like. This supposedly creates that gooey white chewy texture in the cobbler. I haven't tried it the other way to tell you if it makes a difference.

Place casserole dish in preheated oven (375 degrees) and start checking at 35 minutes. Remove when top is golden brown. Enjoy!
