Southern style Peach Cobbler

Nothing says southern dessert like homemade peach cobbler.

Makes 6 servings


Cobbler Dough:
1 cup flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup butter real
¼ cup milk
1 egg 
Peach cobbler filling
¾ cup sugar
1 ½ tablespoons cornstarch
¼ teaspoon nutmeg ground
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Dash salt
5 cups peaches pitted, peeled, and sliced
2 tablespoons butter real

Dough : Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add butter and blend with a fork or pastry blender until texture of cornmeal. Add milk and egg, stirring just to moisten.

Peach Cobbler Filling:
Heat oven to 400° F. Combine sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg or cinnamon, salt, vanilla extract and peaches. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until peaches are tender and syrup thickens. Pour into 8-inch square baking dish; dot with butter. Drop cobbler dough by spoonfuls onto hot fruit filling. Bake 20 minutes.
