Temperatures are slated to be in the 90's in South Carolina for the next few days, so having cool refreshments are a must. This recipe will show you how to make old fashioned Ice Cream soda.
The Basic Recipe:
For each soda serving- fill a tall 10-ounce glass or a big mug about one-third full with chilled club soda, you can also try other flavors too to create new and different flavors that will be interesting and fun for the kids, even having them invent their own. Add 2 to 3 tablespoons ice cream syrup or topping, fruit topping, or sweetened crushed fresh fruit. Mix well with a long handled spoon. Add one scoop slightly softened vanilla ice cream (try different flavors of ice cream too) and mix until smooth. If you have adults lined up add a second scoop of ice cream and stir if desired. Slowly pour additional soda down the inside of the glass. Garnish with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry along with toasted coconut too. Serve with straws and a long handled spoon if fruit is used.

Chocolate: Use chocolate-flavored syrup, chocolate chips, chocolate ice cream and
chocolate soda or club soda. Cream soda would be a nice touch if you like.

Strawberry: Use strawberry topping or sweetened crushed strawberries, strawberry ice cream and strawberry soda or club soda. Add some sliced bananas and chocolate syrup for a Banana Split Ice Cream soda.

Cherry: Use cherry topping, cherry or cherry-vanilla ice cream, and cherry soda. Add some chocolate shavings and a little chocolate syrup to make Chocolate covered Cherry Ice Cream soda.

Lime: Use freshly squeezed lime juice, lime sherbet and lemon-lime soda or ginger ale. Don't be afraid to mix in different citrus fruits here, like Oranges.

Pineapple: Use pineapple topping or canned crushed pineapple, pineapple sherbet and lemon-lime soda or club soda. Ginger ale would work here too.
