These burgers are rich and flavorful and will be a great grill party pleaser. Try adding different grilled fruits as side dishes to make this a true Hawaiian style meal.

1 & 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/3 cup chopped green onions
1 8-ounce can crushed pineapple in its own juice, drained
4 slices finely chopped ham (95% fat-free smoked cooked)
1/2 cup of seasoned breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon Worchestershire sauce
1 egg large, beaten
2 tablespoons soy sauce

In a large bowl, mix beef, pineapple, water chestnuts, ham, onion and egg and bread crumbs. Use about one half cup of meat per burger patty, shape mixture into eight patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Place on a non stick foil-lined baking sheet. Broil 5 inches from heat source for 5 minutes. Toast hamburger buns and add a slice of pineapple to each cooked burger on top along with the barbecue sauce below.
Barbecue sauce: mix ½ cup of barbecue sauce mixed with ½ cup pineapple preserves, 2 tablespoons of Teriyaki sauce, 1 tablespoon of Soy Sauce, place in skillet and heat until bubbly. Let cool down before adding to hamburgers.
