Homemade Lemonade

Lemonade.Image via Wikipedia

Summer will soon be here and the warm temperatures will have us all looking for old time favorites like lemonade. In South Carolina, the temperatures have already crept up to the high eighties, and this great beverage will be a family favorite for any outdoor entertaining and dining.
The key to making this tasty beverage is remembering the lemon juice to water ratio. It is always recommended that you use fresh squeezed lemon juice, but in a pinch bottled lemon juice should work well too.
Remember if you want to cut down the sugar you can replace the sugar with Splenda, or any other sugar substitute.

Makes 4 servings

    1 cup lemon juice fresh
1/2 cup sugar or to taste
    1 quart water cold
    Ice cubes
    Fresh mint sprigs
    Thinly sliced lemon

Blend lemon juice and sugar to dissolve sugar. Mix with cold water. Serve in tall glasses over ice cubes; garnish with mint sprigs and a slice of lemon, If you are making this by the pitcher, it's beautiful to add not only slices of Lemon to the pitcher but sliced lime and even oranges make this a beautiful and festive summer time beverage and so colorful.
