I don't know what the mystery is, but I have been asked many times how to make the perfect pot of rice. So here's my easy steps. Once you have mastered the basics, this southern staple can be made a wide variety of ways.

Difficulty: Easy

Things You'll Need:
Par boiled rice
Pot with tight fitting lid

Step 1
First things first, the raw rice to water ratio is, one cup raw rice to 2 cups water. This is actually enough for a single serving for four people..unless you're like my family, and then its enough for two.

Step 2

Bring your pot of water to a boil. At this time if you'd like to add herbs or spices to jazz things up, do so. Make sure your water is at a steady boil.

Step 3
Add your pre-measured raw rice to your boiling pot of water and stir. Allow to come to a second boil. Cover with a tightly fitting lid.

Step 4
Turn your heat on low, and set your timer for twenty minutes. Voila, you now have the perfect pot of rice..each and every time!I like to add herbs and spices, fresh spinach leaves, garlic and sometimes bouillion.
