Boca Raton, Florida. Sangria at Peruvian resta...Image via Wikipedia

South Carolina is hot and this Memorial day will be the perfect time to fire up the grill and serve this delicious Sangria slushie for your guests. Why not serve the Sangria Slushie this with Grilled Chicken in beer marinade and see how popular your house becomes every holiday.
Nothing says Summer time like this Sangria Slushie recipe, fruity and relaxing by the pool side or for those wonderful family get togethers. Make two batches one with wine for the adults and one replacing the wine with Cranberry juice. For more recipes in South Carolina, see: Savor South Carolina.

Makes 4 servings

1 1/2 cups ginger ale
1 cup burgundy wine or any dry red wine
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
¼ cup lemon juice
¼ cup orange juice
¼ cup of lime juice

In a medium saucepan, mix ginger ale, wine, sugar, water and all juices. Over medium heat, cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until sugar dissolves. Pour into an 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan. Cover and freeze for 3 hours or until center is almost frozen. Taste here to see if sweet enough.

Break into pieces. Transfer to a blender container or a food processor bowl. Cover and blend or process until slushy but not melted.

Spoon into shallow glasses. Eat with a spoon or add some more Ginger ale.
